TNP-2092 IV
> Medical device associated
bacterial biofilm infections
Medical device associated bacterial biofilm infection is a growing unmet medical need. Device explantation and replacement surgeries are commonly performed due to lack of effective therapy. TNP-2092 is a multi-targeting drug conjugate specifically designed for the treatment of medical device infections. It possesses a novel mechanism of action by inhibiting RNA polymerase, DNA gyrase and DNA topoisomerase IV, three essential targets for bacteria living in biofilms. TNP-2092 is highly potent against bacteria living in biofilms in vitro and in vivo and exhibits an extremely low propensity for development of resistance. TNP-2092 is currently in late stage of clinical development for the treatment of medical device associated bacterial biofilm infections.
